[PATIENT 1]
If I am doing this I want it over with.
Braces are faster than Invisalign.
[DR HAJEE 1]
Sometimes.
Depends entirely on what we are fixing.
[PATIENT 2]
I read that braces are always quicker.
[DR HAJEE 2]
For big bite corrections, often yes.
For crowding and spacing, aligners are frequently the same or faster.
[PATIENT 3]
Why would plastic be faster than metal?
[DR HAJEE 3]
Because we plan every single movement before you start wearing anything.
Nothing gets adjusted by feel at a monthly appointment.
We get more accuracy, so we finish in about the same time,
if not sooner.
[PATIENT 4]
Then why does anyone still get braces?
[DR HAJEE 4]
Compliance.
Aligners only work if you actually wear them.
I cannot assume a ten year old is going to change their
trays every seven days.
[PATIENT 5]
So braces are the safer bet.
[DR HAJEE 5]
For a kid, often.
Once braces are on, they are on.
Nobody can take them out.
Break a bracket and you come back in, that is the worst
case.
[PATIENT 6]
So how do I know which one I need?
[DR HAJEE 6]
I would scan you and show you both timelines side by side.
And if braces are better for your mouth, I will tell you
that.
